Why? Especially because more of my mentees are also coming from non-tech backgrounds, including HR, Legal, Creative Arts, etc.

Before I share some examples, last week we had such a lovely time in the Spanish Pyrenees on a family break using home exchange guest points, I thought I would share a pic below of the beautiful views we enjoyed.

Nope, not all remote opportunities are for coders
Being a remote work advocate since 2017, I have heard alot of arguments about remote roles being only for engineering types. You could say in the start (early naughties) that this may have been the case in the main.
While early adopters have been designing remote first organisations since the early naughties (most notably with Automattic in 2005) meaning examples exist from almost 20 years ago.
Some examples:
Automattic: Founded in 2005, Automattic (the company behind WordPress) has been a leader in remote work since its inception.
Buffer: This social media management platform has been fully remote since its founding in 2010.
Zapier: Founded in 2011, Zapier has been remote-first from the start and has been influential in promoting remote work practices.
In the last 10 years, more and more companies have joined the fold. With a massive acceleration of remote first companies being founded post pandemic, since 2020. Now, with intention and research, we can see a wider adoption of remote work in companies aligned with engineering, such as legal tech, finance tech etc.
Plus, some more companies focusing on Tele Medicine, Knowledge Management, Global Mobility, International Development and Internet Marketing - to only name a few - are emerging reguarly.

3 bonus remote job searc tips:
👀 Ensure your CV is customised to match the job description.
👀 Pay extra special attention to job description detail, following instructions and any special requests carefully and to the letter.
