๐ Guest: Leave your ageism at home, Nomads can start at any age!
More and more mature Nomads are exploring the world!

Meet Kristie Sullivan, who quit her 20-yr career in Accounting & Finance to travel the world. Unlike other nomads, she pursues her mission of helping successful business professionals achieve travel freedom while keeping their steady paychecks, using minimal (if any) PTO, and not waiting for retirement. In this way, she is the Founder of Ultimate Workation and Community Founder of Executive Remote Worker.
After selling most of her stuff and storing the rest, at 46 years old, she continues with the same inspiration of seeing the world with her own eyes and with her partner, Bill (51), the founder of a fully remote real estate investment company.ย

๐ซถHow do you take care of yourself when nomading?
As any nomad knows, time management is critical to this lifestyle. Thatโs why my favorite way to start the day is a planning discussion over cappuccino and croissant with my partner โ each of us with our businesses.ย
We sit down together first thing each morning to share our thoughts, challenges, and the 1 to 3 things we want to accomplish that day. We value this creative time together to prepare our minds for the day ahead.ย Itโs also a valuable time to think strategically in our respective businesses and help each other solve any issues.
At the end of the day, we wrap things up over a glass of wine (or a shot of tequila if weโre in Mexico). This is an excellent ritual for us to close out our work days. It gives us an element of accountability for what we said we wanted to get done that day.
It is also an opportunity to talk about the things that worked well and things that didnโt work so well.

โด๏ธ How do you find community as a nomad?ย
As a nomadic couple in our mid to late 40s, weโre not concerned about finding a โdigital nomad communityโ when arriving at a new destination. Our initial concerns are focused on logistical and tactical things like settling into our accommodations, setting up our workstations, finding the nearest grocery stores, etc.ย
Once we have sorted our living and working situation, we can focus on meeting new people โ particularly folks in the local community. This usually happens organically by repeatedly being present and open to creating new relationships.
For example, by going to the same restaurant or cafรฉ each day, you will, without trying, become friends with those who work there and others who frequent the place. Itโs easy to make new friends by asking them about all the cool things to do there, practicing the local language, etc.

๐ฑ How do you consider the planet and minimise your impact?
I try my best to be a good steward of resources when I travel by limiting my:ย
Movements with slow travel & stay longer in each location.ย
Use of appliances, heating, & AC in my accommodations.ย
Travel on long-haul flights.ย
Use of private transportation.ย
Additionally, our travel cadence is about 1-2 months at a time, enabling us to manage our slow travel impact.
I'm also very conscious of my energy consumption when it comes to non-travel things by limiting my:ย
Usage of AI like ChatGPT.ย
Purchases of fast fashion like H&M, Zara, Old Navy, etc.ย
Online shopping with home delivery like Amazon.ย
Purchases of non-local & out of season groceries.
