MeetΒ Samira Holma, a nomad who has identified what is the most important for her! Her approach is about designing a life that allows you to do your best work and spend time on things you care about.Β
For her, it is freedom, flexibility, having time for things that matter, and making an impact in different ways. This way, she realized that entrepreneurship and the location-independent lifestyle would support her goals whether that means more time helping her hometown, traveling worldwide, or volunteering for sustainable initiatives.Β
Now, you can find Samira traveling the world and offering marketing services to destinations and brands that want to attract digital nomads and remote workers. Additionally, she writes inspiring content for travelers and sustainable tourism tips.

π«ΆHow do you take care of yourself when nomading?
Being proactive about your well-being is key to enjoying the digital nomad lifestyle long-term. Thinking about what matters most to you is an excellent place to start. Then it's much easier to make decisions down the road.
For instance, I'm intentional about how I spend my time. I'm well aware of what I need to feel good and make sure to set off time for things that are important to me. From catching up with family and friends to spontaneous adventures, meditation, learning, and regular workouts!
Digital Nomad Stories π is a free newsletter for now, but if you like it, you can donate to support my writing work here and I would really π appreciate it!
I often check in on how my preferences and priorities might have changed and tweak my lifestyle when needed, from how I run my business to how I travel.
I also love psychology and have invested a lot of time into understanding how one can optimize various areas in life. From our mindset to relationships, how to become more productive, and design a lifestyle that makes you happy.Β
Β β΄οΈ How do you find community as a nomad?Β
After 6+ years of living as a nomad, I can confidently say that creating and maintaining quality relationships is possible. It requires a lot of awareness, prioritization, effort, time management, and communication.Β
I spend most of my time connecting with local communities and friends by:
Using social media, apps, events, and chitchatting with people when I'm out.
Participating in co-living retreats and using coworking spaces.
Finding meetups or groups related to passions and interests. Dance, workout, food, language exchange, hiking, and so on!
Volunteering in projectsΒ
Networking for my destination marketing projects.
Β Volunteering for me has a significant meaning as I receive all the abundance from giving back and meeting people with similar interests.

π± How do you consider the planet and minimise your impact?
Similarly toΒ Mita CarrimanΒ from #DigitalNomadStories, Samira continually invests time in understanding the place and exploring similarly to the locals. Often in collaboration with local DMOs (destination marketing organizations), entrepreneurs, and family-run businesses that provide unique experiences. From community projects to businesses within gastronomy, tours, and more - this depends on the goal of each project.
Samira has many tips on her website to help you learn how being mindful of the local culture can give you more meaningful experiences. Find below some of the community projects she has contributed:
Brazil: Several different smaller initiatives connecting kids from rural areas to encourage them to get into dancing, capoeira, and more classes instead of drugs.
Cali, Colombia: Meet-up for kids from simpler backgrounds to play, sing, and spend quality time together.
Projeto Tamar, Brazil: Promotes the recovery of sea turtles through research, conservation, and social inclusion actions. Helped them with content in English for a campaign.
She also shares a similar attitude withΒ Christen ScalfanoΒ and avoids flights when possible to arrive at her volunteering project sites.
